DiscGolfPark arrives to the state of Vermont
The first DiscGolfPark in the state of Vermont is coming to the Town of Dover as the Horace Hill DiscGolfPark!
Horace Hill is located just off Vermont Route 100 in the center of the village of West Dover. Spanning 53 acres, the land was purchased by the Town of Dover in 2019 in order to preserve the land and also to provide a space for expanded recreation amenities in the town. There are currently a number of pre-existing trails on the property. This land is a major focal point of the Town’s plans with recreation and will be utilized for projects such as the DiscGolfPark course and hiking and biking trails.
The Town of Dover has a rich history in outdoor recreation stemming originally from the winter season and expanding greatly to our current 4-season offerings. While skiing was at the forefront of our recreation for many years, new trails systems, biking venues, and upcoming projects across all of our properties will continue to grow our offerings for many years to come. The Town takes great pride and initiative in its recreation projects to insure we provide the best venues for all of our users.
With the completion of the Weston & Sampson Trails and Recreation Master Plan in 2019, it was quite obvious that a disc golf course was going to be a vital piece of our outdoor recreation venue collection. This course will provide a space for disc golfers both new and experienced to participate in the growing sport free of charge and on public land. We are extremely excited to utilize the property for our beginner users as well as seasoned veterans and hope to coordinate gatherings and tournaments on the property throughout the spring, summer, and fall seasons.
The DiscGolfPark/Disc Golf VT/Sinuosity/Town of Dover partnership is the culmination of years of meetings, public input, and counteless hours of work and planning. We are extremely excited to see the project moving forward and cannot wait to open it for our users.
