Sean Dietrich

My involvement with disc sports started a young age playing catch with an ultimate disc or “lid” with my dad. I hope to pass the passion for sports and connecting with other on to my kids as the grow up.  I played other sports at a competitive level, however ultimate was the only one that stuck into adulthood.  I have been playing disc sports since 2011 and disc golf since 2017.

I am part of the Advance Team for the Paul McBeth Foundation which brings disc golf to places where people otherwise would have no access to the sport.  I believe this sport has the power to connect people and change their trajectory in life. I have helped plan and install 4 projects with the Foundation: Detroit Michigan, Chanku Waste Ranch on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota, Burgas Bulgaria and Belgrade Serbia. Disc golf course design combines my passions for being in nature, creating compelling designs and problem solving.  I believe in most sports there is a lot to be learned by watching professionals play, experiencing the courses they play and getting feedback from the end user for any design.  I’ve played over 200 unique courses, over 10 pro tour courses and a couple Udisc Top 10 courses.

Since 2020 I’ve designed 18 courses, 10 of which have been installed.  I’ve learned countless lessons about the keys for a successful disc golf course and a good installation and those lessons have helped make almost every course I’ve designed a success.  The courses I’ve designed range in size from 750ft to 9500ft in length.  I’ve designed courses for children, schools and beginners as well as long courses that challenge even the best players.
